In 2025, our ERW pipe mill embarked on a journey to India, a country with rapidly growing infrastructure and energy demands. Carrying the WRD brand, this advanced production line arrived to support India’s booming industrial landscape.
India, one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, has seen a surge in demand for steel pipes, driven by expanding infrastructure, water supply systems, and energy projects. As the backbone of modern construction and transportation, high-quality welded pipes are essential to support the country’s development goals.
A prominent Indian steel pipe manufacturer, aiming to enhance production capacity and product quality, sought a reliable and technologically advanced partner. After a comprehensive evaluation of global suppliers, including visits to multiple facilities in China, the customer selected WRD in 2023 to supply a new ERW welded steel pipe production line. WRD stood out due to its advanced forming technology and proven track record in delivering high-performance equipment.
WRD provided a complete ERW pipe mill designed to produce pipes with an outer diameter of φ219 mm and wall thickness of up to 12.7 mm.And it is capable of producing various combinations of OD and wall thickness for round, square, and rectangular pipes.
The production line adopts the world-leading FFX forming technology, a next-generation roll forming system that significantly improves the stress distribution during deformation and reduces roll consumption by up to 50%. This technology, fully absorbed and applied by WRD, enables the production line to achieve international advanced standards, ensuring superior pipe quality and lower operational costs. Under the condition of meeting the requirements of forming quality and forming stability, it has realized the full combination of rolls in break-down section and is the pipe mill with the highest degree of combination of rolls at present. High level roll combination not only eliminates heavy roll change and roll position reproduction after roll change, greatly improves production efficiency and operating environment, but also greatly reduces the cost of roll production and management.Makes this production line is one of the most advanced and highly automated welded pipe production lines in the Asian market today.
With a maximum operating capacity , the production line can reach an annual output of over 330,000 tons a year, offering the customer a highly efficient and flexible solution to meet market demands. WRD also supported the customer in workshop layout planning and project execution, ensuring seamless integration and optimal space utilization.
