“Quality is a key to a successful business.” is the slogan of this Korean customer. They pursue to set up an advanced production line but with limited budget.

WRD has rich expertise in ERW pipe mill lines, was entrusted by Korean customer to design and manufacture process equipment for a pipe mill line facility. The estimated output of this new mill line is 20,000 tons per year, aims to produce Electric Resistance Welding pipe (ERW) up to 219mm for pressure applications and ordinary uses in steam, water, gas and air lines.

The Korean customer require the finished pipe diameter difference within -/+0.5%. It is more more stringent than ASTM or BS standard. WRD made every effort: sending engineers on-site visits, repeating technical exchanges, showing domestic projects to customer and so on... Finally, the Korean customer were very satisfied with the valuable technical proposal and equipment cost. Then WRD started to prepare the new mill lines and finally installed in Korea in 2017.

During installation, the Korean customer insisted to install the high-power motor on the forming section and low-power motor on the sizing section as usual practice. Even WRD ’s engineer suggested exchanging the place for many times, they still installed the motors as their plan. Once they produced round-to-square pipe, the finished pipe couldn’t reach the expected shape. Then they feed back to WRD.

As a designer and supplier of production lines, WRD have rich experience in complex machines and installations. WRD engineer pointed out that the design of whole line was correct, but the two motors were in the wrong position, this made the pipe run unsmoothly. Under the guidance of WRD ’s chief engineer, the commissioning of this ERW mill line was completed within one week.
